Hangover:Movie Review

Tagline: What happens in vegas stays in vegas.

Doug is about to get married. He along with his two best friends and yet to be brother-in-law go for “one bumpy ride before a long wonderful life”.They plan to party in Vegas and spend the weekend before marriage in booze and gamble. For that ultimate bachelor party of their life, they indeed have just that!

Its one of the best comedies in recent times. Its definitely not a family fare, its best to watched with a gang  male friends.

The best thing about the movie is that  it was not clichéd and with a crafty dialogues,  well extracted performances it comes up with some really funny moments and one liners. The story is presented in a reverse screenplay format where the men wake up to a shabby looking, littered hotel room. They realise that their friend doug is missing and memory of one night erased from their minds!.

From their starts an unexpected trail of events. Which they start to recount with tiny little clues available.

Just figure this:

Finding a baby in your bedroom when you wake up in the morning.

Marrying a stripper.

Get punched by mike Tyson.

Finding a tiger in your loo.

pulling out your own tooth with a plier.

Steal a cops car.

Get clawed by a tiger.

Win 80 k $ at the casino.

Get high on drugs.

break into Mike Tysons house and kidnap his  tiger.

The Hangover was a critical and commercial success. It became the tenth highest-grossing film of 2009, with a worldwide gross of over US$ 467 million. Its the  highest grossing rated R movie in movie history, surpassing Eddie Murphy’s Beverly Hills Cop’s 25 year run at the box office.

Alan who is “too stupid to insult”  comes with one the best bachelor party toast ever.

Best Bachelor party toast ever.

Alan Garner: Hello. How ’bout that ride in? I guess that’s why they call it Sin City.

[awkward laughter]

Alan Garner: You guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack. But when my sister brought Doug home, I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack… it grew by one. So there… there were two of us in the wolf pack… I was alone first in the pack, and then Doug joined in later. And six months ago, when Doug introduced me to you guys, I thought, “Wait a second, could it be?” And now I know for sure, I just added two more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves, running around the desert together, in Las Vegas, looking for strippers and cocaine. So tonight, I make a toast!

When the party is over, the guys realize that their best friend is missing. Wedding is supposed to happen next day, but the groom is gone. It’s one of the hilarious comedies I would remember for some time.

We all do dumb $hit when we are Fu**ed up,

Get clawed by a tiger.

Push a car when the  tiger is inside.

Personally i liked the doctors character, played my ed helms, followed by brad cooper and dougs.

Ken Jeong who plays an Asian gangster comes with a good performance. A little known fact is that he  is actually a physician and then became a stand up comedian before venturing into TV and Films. He won the best MTV WTF Moment for the movie.

What happens in vegas stays in vegas. Not exactly.

To end with , here are the pictures from the missing camera.

This is the age of pop culture. While your reviews are entertaining, I think it is also your responsibility, as a developing critic, to educate your readers upon the great films of the world. These would include such classics as “Close My Eyes Against the Wind”, conceived and directed by Stephen Poliakoff; “A Lion in Winter”, directed by Anthony Harvey; “Clockwork Orange”, by Stanley Kubrik; “The Tin Drum”, written by Gunter Grass, directed and co-written by Volker Schlöndorff; “Once Upon a Time in America”, directed by Sergio Leone; “War & Peace”, directed by Sergei Bondyarchuk; “The Cotton Club”, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and “Platoon”.
